Our project at Graceland University was a renovation and addition to the existing Newcom Student Union. The existing building remained at approximately 25,000 square feet. The existing bookstore, classrooms, office spaces, and main multipurpose room were remodeled. The addition is approximately 5,000 square feet and provides a new entry, additional dining space, student collaboration space, new restrooms and a new outdoor patio area with a gas fire pit and beautiful pergola. The new structure is a steel frame with steel roof framing while the exterior skin is primarily brick and aluminum storefront. A new electrical service is to be provided with new power and lighting throughout as well as new fire sprinklers and fire alarm systems.
