Housing the nation’s largest ScreenX, the B&B Theatres Liberty 12 provides an extraordinary experience involving a wrap around, down the side immersive viewing screen. Another must see is the MX4D auditorium. The moving seats and equipment simulates the screen action with wind and water. Entering The Kid Zone auditorium children will find playground equipment and a full length two-story slide. As a result, the entire family have a more enjoyable experience. Other features in the entertainment complex include a full commercial kitchen, consessions, bar and lounge. The exterior Bomanite concrete covered patio adds a touch of sophistication to the viewing experience.
While this theatre includes many amazing innovative parts, ScreenX arrives as the newest innovation to the movie industry. This technological feature presented itself six months into the overall ten month construction schedule. Adding ScreenX at this stage of construction provided a welcomed challenge for the building team. Excel worked in the side projectors and screens which impacted the building’s structural, electrical and mechanical systems. Structure had to be added to support projectors and removed to allow for side screens. Routing the additional electrical panels and circuity through completed work required masterful craftsmen. Moving the tiered auditoriums’ 30 foot overhead mechanical ductwork allowed for side projection. Excel partners with B&B Theatres on serveral theatres in the Greater Kansas City area, and but this project has been one of the greatest outcomes we have seen thus far.
