The project consisted of a single story, 26,000 sf building addition containing 12 classrooms, six storm shelters and multiple offices. The addition constructed of masonry block and brick with a structural steel roof deck. The shelters construction consists of 12” CMU walls that are grouted solid, hollow core precast ceilings planks with a topping slab for further strength, and IC 5000 rated doors. Each shelter also contains both a girl and boys’ bathroom and locker storage area.
