Excel was selected as the General Contractor to renovate 16,000 square feet and add a 3,000 square foot Narthex to the St. Joseph Catholic Church located in Shawnee, Kansas. A new ADA accessible covered entrance and drop-off area was added to the Church. Additional ADA improvements allowing for wheelchair seating and accessible restrooms highlighted the interior improvements which also included the Narthex, an open gathering space, a religious articles store and upgrades to lighting, sound and fire suppression systems. During the construction, mass was held in the building’s gymnasium. The six million dollar total project was funded entirely through donations.
