After nearly 22 years of dedicated service at Excel Constructors and over 40 years in the construction industry, Steve Neal retires. In 1973, Steve began his career in Kansas City as a carpenter apprentice. In 1994, Steve joined Excel as a project superintendent.
Steve lead the construction on some of Excel’s largest and most notable buildings including the Venture Accelerator at Kansas Bioscience Park, and completed projects for the Shawnee Mission and Blue Valley school districts; Shawnee Mission Health; the Archdiocese of Kansas City, among others. Steve has won many industry awards for producing quality projects. He most recently received the Associated Builders and Contractors’ Excellence in Construction award for the completion of the Moyes Eye Center.
The pride Steve took in each of his projects and his attention to detail was second to none. President, Mike Johnson comments; “The only word I can use to describe Steve is ‘quality’, both as a professional and as a person.” Steve will be greatly missed both as a leader and a friend.
