B&B Theatre’s latest concept is the first in Kansas City and only one of three in the nation. Excel Constructors is proud to have teamed with B&B to provide this trendsetting concept in the movie theatre experience. This summer, the renovated Shawnee 18 introduced a ScreenPLAY auditorium; a first for B&B Theatres (and a first for the B&B community), ScreenPLAY will allow young movie-lovers (recommended age 2-8) to enjoy the magic of the movies like never before! The auditorium is family friendly 66-seat facility with vibrantly colored seats and wall coverings, and a full-size climbing playground. With a colorful interactive toddler play area and a giant orange slide, children are encouraged to play out their energy before a film. ScreenPLAY invites guests to arrive twenty minutes before show time for fun and play, while music and other entertainment is onscreen. After the twenty minute play block is over, guests will take their seats and the lights will go down for a kid-friendly feature.
Excel began work on B&B Theatres Shawnee 18 renovation late last year. The theatre received an updated façade and signage with resurfaced parking lot and landscaping. Inside, the theatres seats were removed and replaced with leather reclining theater chairs. The lobby renovations included a new snack bar, signage, carpet, lighting and paint, as well as updated restrooms.
