After 19 years of dedicated service with Excel Constructors, John McKenzie retires. In 1998, John McKenzie began his career at Excel, as a carpenter, with his one of his first projects at the Kaylene Court Apartments in Wamego, KS. John proceeded to work on more than 136 jobsites over the course his career with Excel. He worked on the construction of some of our largest and most notable buildings including the Kansas Bioscience Park Venture Accelerator, Dermatology & Skin Cancer Center, Moyes Eye Center and completed projects for Shawnee Mission Health; and the Archdiocese of Kansas City, among others. John’s most abundant work might be from his time spent on our QuikTrip jobsites. John has worked on over 24 different QuikTrip’s in his time with Excel.
John has always been a dedicated worked. Rick Hubbard, Superintendent, said, “Whenever I needed John to do anything, he would tell me ‘All I want to do is work’ and that is all you can ask for.”
Mike Johnson, Excel President, comments, “John is a fine example of an exemplary worker. He shows up to work and dedicates his time to getting the job done to the finest quality. You [John] work hard all the time.”
